Fast Retailing FY2026 results show that international UNIQLO, rather than a single Japan-market rebound, was the central driver of the group’s record performance. For the year ended August 31, 2026, Fast Retailing reported revenue of ¥3.9633 trillion and business profit of ¥718.4 billion. International UNIQLO revenue rose 26.2% to ¥2.4111 trillion and its business profit rose 44.1% to ¥439.8 billion, well ahead of the growth rate reported by UNIQLO Japan.
That is the useful way to read the October 8 release. The headline result is a completed fiscal year; the ¥4.4500 trillion revenue and ¥830.0 billion business-profit figures for FY2027 are company forecasts, not results. Fast Retailing also uses “business profit” as a defined measure, so readers should not casually substitute operating profit or net income for it.
Key takeaways

- Fast Retailing’s FY2026 revenue rose 16.6% year on year to ¥3.9633 trillion, while business profit rose 30.4% to ¥718.4 billion.
- International UNIQLO reported revenue growth of 26.2% and business-profit growth of 44.1%; UNIQLO Japan also grew, but at 5.7% and 8.1%, respectively.
- The company defines business profit as revenue minus cost of sales and selling, general and administrative expenses. FY2026 operating profit was a different figure: ¥743.1 billion.
- The scheduled FY2026 annual dividend is ¥850 per share, after the board raised the year-end estimate to ¥530. FY2027’s ¥900 per-share figure remains a forecast.
- The next test is execution against FY2027 guidance, including continuing double-digit international growth and the effect of currency, demand and price competition.
Fast Retailing FY2026 results: the basic read

Fast Retailing’s official FY2026 results summary covers the 12 months from September 1, 2025 through August 31, 2026. It reports the group’s fifth consecutive record performance. Revenue increased by ¥562.8 billion from FY2025, while business profit increased by ¥167.3 billion.
The company’s terminology matters. In its FY2026 presentation, Fast Retailing defines business profit as revenue less cost of sales and selling, general and administrative expenses. Operating profit also includes other income and expenses. Both are useful, but they answer different questions; the business-profit line is the company’s chosen measure of underlying business profitability.

The final column is deliberately labeled as a forecast. Fast Retailing says forward-looking figures can vary materially with the economic environment, demand, price competition and exchange rates. That makes FY2027 useful as a set of management tests, not as an outcome investors can assume.
Why international UNIQLO did the heavy lifting

UNIQLO International reported the fastest large-scale growth in the group’s operating mix. Its FY2026 revenue was ¥2.4111 trillion, up 26.2%, and business profit was ¥439.8 billion, up 44.1%. The company said all international regions achieved higher revenue and profit, with double-digit revenue and profit growth in local currency across South Korea, Southeast Asia, India and Australia, North America, and Europe. Greater China reported a revenue increase and double-digit profit growth.
North America and Europe were particularly notable: their combined FY2026 sales exceeded both Greater China and the combined South Korea/Southeast Asia/India/Australia region for the first time, according to the company’s results commentary. That is a geographic-mix change worth following because it broadens the pool of earnings drivers beyond a single overseas market.

| FY2026 operating group | Revenue | Revenue growth | Business profit | Business-profit growth | What the result says |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UNIQLO Japan | ¥1,084.8bn | +5.7% | ¥196.0bn | +8.1% | Record result, supported by 5.1% same-store-sales growth; gross margin was slightly lower for the full year. |
| UNIQLO International | ¥2,411.1bn | +26.2% | ¥439.8bn | +44.1% | Largest reported growth engine; the business-profit margin improved in every region. |
| GU | ¥336.7bn | +1.8% | ¥31.5bn | +11.0% | Profit improved, though the company said fourth-quarter sales struggled during the seasonal product transition. |
| Global Brands | ¥128.5bn | −2.3% | ¥2.8bn | +6.8% | Revenue declined while profit improved modestly; Theory remained in structural reform. |
These operating-group figures should not be added up and presented as a replacement for the consolidated total. Fast Retailing’s annual results announcement says consolidated figures also include the holding company and adjustment amounts not attributable to the four reporting groups.
The geographic breadth does not remove risk. UNIQLO Japan’s full-year gross-profit margin contracted 0.1 percentage point, and the company attributed first-half pressure in part to a weaker yen on forward exchange contracts used for procurement. The article’s practical conclusion is narrower: the completed results show international expansion generated the faster growth, while foreign-exchange and merchandising execution still matter to margins.
For background on the reporting calendar, see ATG Press’s Japan earnings season guide and Japanese fiscal-year guide. Fast Retailing’s August year-end is a useful reminder that Japanese companies do not all report on a March-year-end cycle.
What the FY2027 forecast requires
Fast Retailing forecasts FY2027 revenue of ¥4.4500 trillion and business profit of ¥830.0 billion, increases of 12.3% and 15.5%, respectively. It forecasts profit attributable to owners of the parent of ¥560.0 billion, just 3.2% above FY2026. That gap is a reason to keep the profit lines separate rather than treating every increase as interchangeable.
Management’s own conditions are clear. It expects double-digit revenue and profit growth for UNIQLO International, higher revenue but broadly steady business profit for UNIQLO Japan, and continued brand renewal at GU. It also expects a slight contraction in UNIQLO Japan’s gross-profit margin, citing the likely impact of a weaker yen on forward exchange contracts, even as it seeks better discounting discipline.
Three reader checks follow from that guidance:
1. International growth by region. The FY2026 result showed broad expansion, but the next release should show whether North America, Europe, Greater China and other Asian markets are all still contributing. 2. Margin versus sales growth. Fast revenue growth is more informative when the business-profit margin is also holding or improving. The FY2026 consolidated business-profit margin was 18.1%, up 1.9 percentage points. 3. Currency and product execution. Fast Retailing specifically identifies exchange rates, demand and price competition as forecast risks. Those are operating variables to verify in the next results release, not reasons to extrapolate management guidance without question.
Dividend reset: completed revision versus future target
The board’s October 8 dividend notice revised the FY2026 year-end dividend estimate from ¥320 to ¥530 per share. With the ¥320 interim dividend already paid, the scheduled annual FY2026 dividend becomes ¥850, compared with ¥500 in FY2025. The company said it intends both to prioritize growth investment and maintain high shareholder returns.
That revised FY2026 estimate supersedes the earlier ¥640 full-year forecast discussed in ATG Press’s Fast Retailing dividend guide. The FY2027 annual dividend of ¥900, split into a ¥450 interim and ¥450 year-end amount, is management’s forecast. It should therefore be read with the same uncertainty as the company’s other FY2027 targets.
